The Interlaken/Jungfrau Region
In a trainride of a few hours a good friend took me to Interlaken and from there up to Wengen in the Bernese Oberland. From Wengen we walked up to the Kleine Scheidegg on over 2000m. It's from there that the train continues up to the Jungfraujoch, which is the highest railway station in Europe on about 3400m. It is also known as the Top of Europe. Unfortunately we could not go up there due to time constraints. Get livecam pictures from the Top of Europe (Jungfraujoch) right here

A break before reaching Kleine Scheidegg
The train going up from here to the Top of Europe climbs mainly in a long tunnel through the Eiger and Moench mountains. Also the final train station itself is built underground into the rocks. Click the link below, it's the official site of the railway company operating this train

Another 20 minutes to go
Walking up from Wengen to the kleine Scheidegg was a tough exercise; over 700m difference in altitude! Click the picture to get a look at the Kleine Scheidegg region, which is the starting point of the railway going up to the Top of Europe and where the "crazy" mountain climbers start their adventurous journey across the dangerous Eiger North Wall which you can see below.

This is not Sherpa Tensing...
...who was among the first two men to reach Mount Everest. No, this is my friend "Boy" who showed me this beautiful scenery.
