Helping out in the kitchen

At Pizzeria Giovanni - a nice guy this pizzaiola. He explained to me how to make them.

Cheers! I always had a good time with my cousin Oliver

Did I empty all that Chianti bottle?

Anyway, this was my first bottle...
|
...and this my last car ;-)

I never had such a good pizza before. Not the American style pizza, which usually bend like a wet piece of thick cardboard. This was a genuine Italian pizza with thin and crisp dough. My favorite was pizza al spinachi.

3 days in the Ticino, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. Because of its mild climate, it is a well known holiday region. See more here or here

Palmtrees and the church of Ascona, a lovely place on the shore of the Lago Maggiore. For a virtual tour of Ascona click here

As it had been heavily raining for days before we arrived the lower part of the village was completely flooded.

Resting on one of these nicely shaped rocks in the valley of the wild Verzasca river near Locarno

On a Ticino mountain peak. Although the Ticino hosts the lowest point of Switzerland with some 193m above sea level, it is also a mountaineous region with peaks exceeding 3000m (9000 feet).

Hey, I just wanted to shoot a pic myself. Please, Oliver, can you not stop calling me all the time?
|
The beautiful colors of fall. One of my favorite pictures.
|
I can make myself so small. But I am a big and strong girl. So beware! :-)

The snowy mountains which separate the Ticino from the main part of the country
|
On the Gotthard pass, 2030m above sea level. Though it was only mid-October, the first snow had already fallen. For me it was the first time ever to touch snow.

A last break before heading back home again.
