The first station of our tour was Appenzell, followed by a visit to Lake Constance
These places are both in the eastern part of Switzerland, not far from the Austrian and from the German border.

Appenzell is a cute little town with lots of colorful houses
It is the capital of the Canton of Appenzell Inner Rhoden, where citizens meet once a year on the main square to elect their local gorvernment and to vote on various local issues, |
|
One of the most beautiful houses
Extremely colorfully decorated, a lot of small windows, and very clean, a true gem.

With "Yaii" on the main street of Appenzell
"Yaii" is Thai and means actually grand-ma. She is however not my grand-ma, rather my grand aunt, namely the sister of my real grand-ma. In Thailand we have however our own way of calling our relatives. |
|
A restaurant in almost every second house
Appenzel has developed into a little tourist center where people from all over the world come to see it for a few hours as part of their trip to eastern Switzerland. See more of this region

On the shore of Lake Constance
This pic was taken near a town called Rorschach. Lake Constance is the biggest lake of Switzerland; it is shared with Germany and with Austria. |
|
Breakfast in the hotel Bad Horn
A very nice hotel with it's own harbor and where we stayed overnight.
|
|
And this is "Taa"
"Taa" means grandfather. He is the husband of Yaii. They were the ones who invited me to Europe and with whom I stayed most of the time. |
